Today We are Celebrating You!

We are celebrating all of the loved ones in our lives—parents, foster parents, guardians, neighbors, instructors, friends, and significant others—who are family, through relation or choice today! Support systems are so valuable and those we call our family can make all the difference in the world in our lives.

We realize, though, that days like Father’s Day also can also be painful or exclusive. There are so many things that may make days like this happy and exciting, and so many things that may make days like this hard.

It’s okay if today is a hard day for you. It’s okay if you don’t feel much like celebrating, and if you choose not to celebrate at all.

If today is a hard day for you, for whatever reason:

  • Know your feelings are valid, understandable, and okay

Whatever you feel today is okay. Be gentle with yourself and give yourself permission to feel your emotions.  You can even schedule time in your day to express and feel your emotions in a safe space.

  • Take care of yourself

You can treat yourself, take a day to just feel your feelings, or focus on one way to practice self-care today. Practice grounding if that helps by taking deep breaths and focusing on what you can see, smell, taste, and feel.

  • Know that you are not alone, and that there is support for whatever you are going through.

Take care of yourself today and be mindfully supportive of those around you. We celebrate you and your strength today and every day.
